Hello all,

First, my apologies for the brief outage of this website over the weekend. As most of you know, I am a former assistant myself, and I run this site on a volunteer basis. I pay for the server costs out of my own pocket, with a small amount of help from the advertisements you see on this site on occasion.

Over the weekend, I learned that I was two invoices behind in payment because my credit card had expired. The costs of running this site are not high (about $16/month), but I thought it a good time to ask for donations. Don't worry - I have paid the invoices and everything is back up and running. However, throwing $32 at this website made me think I would be justified in asking those willing to give.

I know you are all living on a lowly assistant salary, but every little bit helps! If you have found this site at all useful, I'd be grateful for any help you could send my way in covering basic costs. I am not looking to make money off this site, just to keep it going without it costing me any money.

I'll leave this up as a sticky -- if the costs of running the site over the next few months get covered, I'll take it down with a big thank you note and an update.

Donations are through PayPal, but you don't have to have a PayPal account to use it (just a credit card). The donation page shows my other email address (lee at odessastreet dot net) and then a box with the Assistants in France donation space. That's where the magic happens.

Seriously everyone, please DO think about donating, even if it's just a small amount - this site is a wealth of information for all of us and we should all do our part to help keep it around. Surely the answers you've found here are worth 5, 10 or 15 bucks, non??

Just a heads up that I have received a few donations over the last three weeks. Thank you to everybody who has donated -- if you haven't gotten a personal email from me yet, you will. I am just a little behind.

To date, I have received $43 in donations, which almost covers three months of server fees. That is awesome and hopefully we'll just keep going at a slow and steady rhythm to keep costs covered...

This site has been enormously helpful and the fact that you run it on a volunteer basis is quite astonishing.

You're doing a great job and I love how everything looks so nice, neat, user-friendly. The information has been helpful and i love the fact that there is a space outside of facebook to meet other assistants and to vent about our special needs and issues.

i mean really, who's going to understand when i complain about how disorganized things are and how everything closes at 5pm, or that i miss tacos?
