Residence Universitaire with Paris Academy?

Postby genovais » Fri Sep 15, 2006 3:27 pm

To Paris Assistants:

Has anyone who opted for housing in residence universitaire gotten a reply back from Mlle DIONIS yet? I've already arrived in Paris and starting to wonder whether I'll be needing to look for a place on my own...

Thanks,
Brad

I had to deal with Joanna Dionis last year and she was always so nice. Unorganized, but sweet. I would just call her up directly and ask her.

I havent heard about this either. Did you call genovais?

Dizzeerascal, did you end up getting the housing? What did it take? Was it a good deal?

No, I was a recrute locale and already in Paris so I didn't need housing, but the people I knew who got it seemed to be happy with it. Joanna Dionis is actually one of the main contacts for the assistants at the Paris rectorat - any questions or problems with your paycheck, she is the one to go to. Or at least she was last year.

Quite bad news... I went to the Rectorat Monday, but Mlle DIONIS is no longer there... so, they've piled her work on someone else who is totally overwhelmed, and though nice not very helpful. Basically, because the American side "dragged their feet" on getting our work permits, by the time us Americans got our arretes all the housing in residence universitaire had been taken up by the European assistants. So, apparently no American assistants got housing with the Academy. There's a waiting list for housing (hurry up and get on it if interested!), but I have no idea whether it will amount to anything. I continue to check pap.fr and everything else everyday-- who knew housing would be such an impossible issue?

Ha! My chair told me about this (no, inanimate objects have not started speaking to me -- yet -- rather, my old boss at school), that the French Government has been giving the homeless tents to sleep in!! We might very soon have to join the queue!
